water coming through

Ok, we are in the “raining season” but our raining season used to be like: raining day, raining day rain, sunny day, raining day, raining day, sunny day, sunny day, rain... and so on.
Now it's different: it has not stop raining for the last 6 days... and the news say that this Stan storm is already a hurricane and that it will be raining even more.
Perhaps 6 days of nonstop rain is normal in some places around the world... But definitely not here.

This is what happened in my bedroom:

Phase 1: a little bit of water is coming through

Phase 2: more water coming through

Phase 3: the ceiling fell

Can you imagine people with houses even frailest than mine?

The 3 mayor problems now in my country: First, the unstoppable rain, which causes a lot of floods and left many families damaged (not only in the poor neighborhoods). Second: the volcano, has caused serious damages in the coffee and cotton plantations, also in the farms of hens, cows and pigs that received the volcanic ash, this has left to many poor families without work and without their main income source. and Third (to make things worst) fuel prices which reached US$4.10 per gallon today… and that #$%@#& us all.

It's so sad how nature can screw up many families and ruin alot of businesses this way. Hope it goes fine in El-Salvador.

Here in Egypt and the middle east being a very dry region with little rains. Rain is considered a blessing and no one can realize that too much rain can become harmful.

Hi Ethel,

are things better now in El Salvador? The situation under control? Nature sure knows how to show humans how weak we are. We can build skyscrapers, airplanes etc. and try to defy nature, but in the end she always wins.....what made me wonder though is the fact that these "disasters" have been quite frequent around the globe, and unusually devastating for about a year now, don't you think? I've heard that this is most likely linked to Global Warming...

Hope you're okay mi niña!

Cuidate, hugs, Carissa

Even with the earthquake, things are getting better now. At least all AIESEC members are ok. We will check with the alumni.
Thanks for asking.

And yes, maybe you are right... maybe it's because of the global warming

Ethel.
