You know you are living AIESEC when... (2)
I felt really sad hearing comments like:
Everybody gets drunk at AIESEC parties.
Don’t you make parties anymore?
What about the huge debt you guys had?
Are you getting in trouble again?
AIESEC is not worth it.
Not a single comment about @XP (of course it’s new concept), or about what we learn during the conferences, all the contacts we make, all the good things that happen in AIESEC.
Seriously, I felt really sad by hearing those things. And the worst part is that they didn’t believe me when I told them that now days we have a really good MC and committed members.
Why am I sharing this?
Because AIESEC will be what we make of it.
Now days, in El Salvador I see that there is a lot of high potential people motivated and working in every team. Honestly, right now, I cannot complain about most members because they ARE doing his/her job. It will be really hard to take that image off the minds of those persons, but it is possible.
The added value of writing in your CV that you are an AIESEC member will depend on AIESEC’s reputation, and WE build that reputation in our DAILY job and decision, in every mail we send, every phone call we make, every meeting we attend, the way we conduce our lives, the way we ARE.
AIESEC will add value to your life (and your CV) if you add value to the life of others.
Our values: activating leadership, demonstrating integrity, enjoying participation, living diversity, striving for excellence, acting sustainable will become habits after a while if we practice them every day, and if we help our teammates practice them. That's when AIESEC rocks. That’s when AIESEC is worth it. That is when you know you are living AIESEC.

Ethel, this is so true :-( Especially because I know what AIESEC was like before @XP (joined in October 2002)...and you're right again: AIESEC will be what we make out of it! Our daily work and passion will increase AIESEC's reputation around the globe! We have to keep believing that we can truly make a difference...
Huge hugs, Carissa
