Hotel Rwanda
A few days ago I saw Hotel Rwanda... I been trying to find out the best way to explain the way I felt after I saw this movie...
This is a mail that i received two months ago... this words may refelct... somehow... the way I felt.

I am just coming from the cinema. And I watched Hotel Rwanda.
It is about people saying cockroaches are disgusting.It is about people hating cockroaches.It is about people killing cockroaches. It is about people wanting to extinct all the cockroaches in their country.
A Cockroach is what they call their neighbours who happened to be born as Tutsi and not as Hutu as they were. The film is about people.It is about the the rest of the world ignoring genocide.It is about one man who risks everything to save some few people.It is about one million people dying in less than a year just because of being in a different group.

What do I expect from you? Nothing. My honest advice to you: delete this email now and enjoy your day. Life is short and you should get the most out of it. Meet your friends, drink some beer and have a party, that´s the most important thing.
If you disagree, call five people and go with them to watch the film.
You will not enjoy it.
But maybe they will tell others about it. Maybe they will tell other people to watch the film. Maybe there will be more people starting to think about what is happening in the world.Maybe there will be some people wanting to change it. Maybe the next time these people will raise their voice and make the United Nations react when genocide is happening.

After the movie I was sitting down with my friend I watched it together with. We did not talk too much, rather thinking.Genocide happened so many times in History. It happened n my country.It just happened in Kosovo, just in the neighbourhood of the EU.It is happening right now.Is it natural for Human Beings? Would I participate in something like that? How am I acting?Where does it come from?Hatred. Prejudices. Rage.

"This is a gypsy."
"This is a muslim."
"This person is black."
"That woman voted for Bush."
"This person is fat."
"That must be a Jew."
"This girl is blonde."
"That guy is a Catolic"
"These people are immigrants."
"Tutsi are Cockroaches."
What do the sentences above mean to you? What assumptions come automatically to your mind when you hear them? How do you act towards these people? What do you say if someone makes an assumption about a person just because this person happens to belong to a group?
Maybe I cannot do too much against genocide now.But I can do something about my attitude towards the people around me.I can make people think about what they are saying. I can influence my friends.
Go take them to watch the movie.Ask them the questions I just asked you.
