Women as Role Models

The 100th edition of Estrategia & Negocios (a major business magazine in the Central American and Caribbean Region) presents in the back cover the summary of the 100 covers the’ve had. Looking closely at it, I found out that Ricardo Poma appears 3 times, (of course, his profile is worth it), some other men appear twice and lot of man appear once.

In 100 covers, there is only one women, Maria Eugenia Brizuela de Avila, and she shares the cover!!!!! (there are other women, but in group covers). Shame!!!!! This is so sad!!!!!! I am not saying that the magazine should put women just for the sake of putting women there, but I am wondering were are the role models? What is our place in society? If there are other wonderful women like Mayu, why are we not seeing it?

Will I ever want to be in a cover? I guess so, not just for the 30 seconds of fame, but for what it represents. I want to be one of those who make a positive impact in society (so AIESECky, I know, but really I want that). I have to do something for my country. (I know what that something is, just not ready to share). I had the opportunity to have university education at a university that is very recognized for its excellence, I had the chance to get to know the world through the eyes of all the friends I’ve made around the world and now, I feel responsible for all the learning I’ve had (and the learning I will have); I feel the responsibility of giving back, I feel the responsibility of becoming a role model for women of my country so they can be inspired to do something for our society too.

By the way, happy mother's day =D=D=D=D=D
